Hump day, leap year and snow...

Today was a crazy day for weather.... It started out with the wind blowing like no tomorrow, and then the magical white stuff put on a show.  The top tree is a tree that lines our main street and the bottom tree is a huge Willow tree that is across the fence from the front of our home.  I love this tree, and with the snow... gorgeous...  Happy Leap Year ~ February 29, 2012

Pebbles vs Darth Vader....

Meet Pebbles, she's the one on the bottom and center... the other two pictures are Pebbles in the role of  Darth Vader.   Okay, stop scratching your head and I'll explain.  Pebbles has taken over the cap to my hairspray.. it's become one of her favorite toys.  When she put this in her mouth and it partially covers her mouth/snout - her breathing sounds like Darth Vader... she's so dang cute.  She wanted to make sure that she posed for you and showed everyone her cute smile.

Rocks...

I love rocks... Interesting fact: When I was a little girl and we moved from California to Utah, we lived with my Grandparents until an apartment across the street from them opened up.  We pretty much knew all of the neighbors because my brother Reid and I would spend summers up in Utah while my mom worked two (2) jobs.   Two doors down from my Grandparents were the Keates -- very sweet people and very interesting. The husband was totally into rocks and even had a shed in the furthest back part of their backyard/driveway where he at all kinds of machines to cut, wash, rinse and polish them.  AMAZING!!  I remember as a kid picking rocks out after the process and holding onto them like they were going to be worth some money.  That was when I learned about pettified wood... Rocks will always remind me of my childhood.

Fast forward to today, Monday February 27, 2012.

I scheduled an appointment with our "TAXMAN" to have him do our taxes.. (lol)...  As Paul and I were sitting there talking to Christopher my phone went off... (how embarassing) and I leaned over to turn it off.  In doing so I pulled out my camera.  He looked at me kind of odd and asked "why are you carrying around your camera?".  I explained to him that I was doing this photo challenge and how it worked and that I just  took a picture of the rocks on the side of their home... He said, "Okay... "  I had to come up with a good one now and told him ~ "The reason that I took pictures of the rocks it to inform you that if we do NOT get a REFUND, I'm going to have to "stone" you.  I'm so glad that I can kid around with Christopher and that he dishes it right back to me... I really could never be mean.. I'm much to sweet!

Crafts, crafts and more crafts...

Okay, I'm a crafting fool!!  I have got to be busy with my hands at all times or I' be up and down out of the chair or off the couch.  Since Paul likes to watch his shows and wants me to be with him... we have compromised.  He watches TV and I craft!!  Perfect ~ we both are doing what we like/want too do.

Inez is my first Great Niece and my brother's (Reid) first Grand Daughter.  Inez was born exactly three (3) months to the date of our mother's passing at which brought some happiness back into our lives.  She is for sure our precious Angel....

This is part of my weekend craft that I finished up as well... the chick and large egg.  I love the bright colors that Easter offers.

The 'Lucky" door piece was another one of the weekend projects...

"Love Blocks"........

Recently a couple of my cousins and BFF's came over for our "monthly" craft night and we either finished some crafts that were put on the back burner due to other obligations, or started some new ones (everyone does their own thing unless we all agree on one)....

These love blocks were one of them.  Recently my good friend Christy Christensen was placed into a Developmental Team Manager position that would take her from having a morning shift with weekends off to a mid-afternoon shift with a weekend to cover every x amount of weeks.  What did that mean for her.... no Friday night crafts while in this position.  We lucked out for February and she had a "MOD" Manager on Duty schedule that would place her there in the morning and off by 5:30 pm.. YAY!!

I was excited for her to finish this project so that I had a reason to pull out my "cricut machine" and help her complete the project.  I think it turned out super cute!!

Chicken Ranch Pie Pizza... YUM

What could be better than pizza amongst a fine group of crafters??? Tonight the "crafters" came over and we celebrated Paul's birthday that was earlier this month.  Paul had decided that he wanted to get pizza from The Pie, and boy was it yummy.  Thank goodness for birthdays, pizza and amazing family/friends!!

Happy Birthday to the birthday boy!!

Rubber band ball....

Because I go to the Post Office 4-5 days a week, I get a TON of rubber bands from picking up the mail..  We have a little wicker basket that we put them in after opening up the mail, but it's always full and overflowing with these tan colored strips of endless rubber.  As you can tell I'm now into making them into balls, and for many reasons. 1) to play with and it keeps the area tidy  2) I'm prepared to assist my co-workers that travel from Manila, Philippines when it comes time to pack up their clothes to go home.  Okay, so maybe that is far fetched, one notch.  It is true that one of the guys that I work with in the Philippines asked me for a few rubber bands.  I handed him one of my handy-dandy balls and he told me what would become of my ball.  When he travels he uses rubber bands to roll up his clothes nice and tight and then puts a rubber band around them to give him extra spacing in his suitcase.  Who would have thought.... I keep a couple little ones in my drawers and trust me.... the next time Paul and I travel anywhere... I've got one for each of us!!

Recipes...

These recipes that are within these tin containers belonged to my Grandmother Elva.... IF my Grandmother was alive today, she'd be 103 years old.... I can only imagine how old some of these recipes really are and how long they've been in the family file.

Seeing my Grandmother's writing makes me miss her that much more....  I love and miss you Grandma!

Cards for all occasions...

Once in awhile I'll pick up a box of card from a school fundraiser or I'll see a good deal on a box of cards and end up buying 3 or 4 of them..... why is it that amongst all of these cards ~ there was not a one for the occasion that I needed.  Go figure ~ Murphy's Law!!

Beautiful colors...

One of my friends (Mende Smith) at work brought in a clear jar and added bubble gum to her jar.  As I walked by her desk, all the bright beautiful colors caught my eye. What's your favorite color?

Dexter...

Where do I begin.... We had heard alot about "Dexter" but never was really ever given the chance or opportunity to watch an episode since we didn't have the cable station.  People would talk about it all the time and we just thought, whatever.  Well anyone that knows Paul knows that he loves shows/movies that center around CSI, Criminal mind, Investigation Discovery and even America's most wanted.... WELL.. Paul decided to see if the library had this series available, and he struck gold.  Do I need to tell you that is where/when I lost my husband... It's true.  He wanted to get caught up and be where he was "up-to-date" with the current series.  After looking into the library a little further Paul discovered that they only had a few of the DVD in the series and then was relieved when a friend had the missing ones... Paul was now in heaven and ready to start popping the corn... I'm not much of a "movie" sit down type of girl  It really has to be something that I'm interested in to actually watch it.  Dexter, not so much.  I told Paul to knock himself out watching it and that I'd be somewhere else in the house doing my own thing.  (It worked out nicely, I was able to do my crafts!!).  Being that Paul was sick and he was home for days in a row nursing himself back to health... he got caught up, pretty close.  Here's the issue now... He's going to have to wait for the next/new series to go on DVD since we still do not have the cable station that host this program... LOL

Home Audio System...

So.. it may not be the best quality "audio system docking station" out there, but it's ours!!  We wanted to get something that was smaller, compact and could play a CD, iPod and FM/AM radio

Purple roses, dried up....

On January 10, 2004 my Uncle Gordon Heninger gave me these roses in honor/remembrance of my mother.  January 10, 2004 was the day that we had a celebration of  my mother's life... I look at these roses everday, and they're just as beautiful as the day they were given to me... I love you mom!!

Time ticking....

This is one of my favorite walls in my living room/great room.  I love the clock, and the quote. Just adding that to my wall changed the entire room.

And you have...

So I have been feeling pretty crappy lately and decided to up my Dr appointment to see what was going on with me... confirmation ~ bronchitis.  At least now I know what I'm up against and can continue to get my rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Overdose on the chocolate

Having Paul's birthday and then Valentines all kind of goes together.... Paul mentioned to me that he had never had chocolate covered fruit during a conversation and the light bulb went on.  One of my friends mother at work makes all this delicious chocolate covered this and that, and of course.... they was wonderful  ~ so this was the sinful treat that we were able to enjoy as we came to a close on his celebrating of his birthday and Valentines day... YUM!!!

The birthday boy!!

Happy 42nd Birthday to my love!! I hope that you had a fabulous birthday and that we've created some new memories.  I love you!!

So being Paul's birthday and being that I was sick and didn't get much prepared in the lines of dessert for his day, he told me that he wanted  me to pick up some "orange rolls" when I went to the store....  I did as he asked and this became his "celebration" dessert.  They were tasty if I don't say so myself...

Happy Birthday Pablo, I love you MOSTEST!!!

Filled with handwritten friendship poems...

This book was given to me by a very dear friend Kristin Brewer.  Kristin has beautiful calligraphy writing and filled up the entire book with nothing but friendship poems.  This book means alot to me, for several reasons.  To think that someone took the time to hand write every poem, and the meanings behind them.  Friendship to me means everything... I rely on my friends to be there for me during the good, bad and indifferent, as I will do the same in return.  I have read every poem in this book, and re-read it often.

Celebrating at Benihana's

This evening (Friday, February 10, 2012) we celebrated Toby Olson's and Paul's birthday!  There was Toby & Trish Olson, Joe & Erica Black, Greg & Kathy Riddle, and of course Paul and I.... Dinner was entertaining in so many ways... let me count the ways...  1) Our waitress (MiYoko)... she had to have been at least 74 and talked so fast as if she was trying to keep her dentures in her mouth..

2) We had to ask for water like 23 times before she ever brought it out to us.... dang...
3) Our chef.... oh boy, he had to have been 79 and chopped the food down so much we should have asked for extra straws...
4) It was expensive and honestly.... we felt as if we had entered the twilight zone...

The best part of the night and the only part that I did NOT partake in was the Sake, and here it is warming up... just the way they like it...

Actually the best part of the evening was celebrating the birthdays and being among friends..

Pebbles in pink.....

Seriously this little girl has brought so much happiness to both Paul and I, we could NEVER imagine our life without her in it.  She loves to be covered/burrow and cuddled right up against one of us.  Pebbles is so stinkin' precious... How could you not fall in love with her... LOL

Get charged...

Who would have thought that something as simple as a "battery charger" would be such a very important part of this photo challenge!! Without my charger, there would be no photo's....

Love me some clouds....

I've always love clouds and whenever there is an opportunity to get a good shot, count me in.  It doesn't matter if I have my camera in hand or phone... Love the coloring of the morning sky with the traces of blue peaking through...

View from bottom of LaCaille...

Saturday I had the privilege to attend a photography class with Kathy Riddle and we learned a few new tricks of the trade.  It was awesome, and it was just the basics!! I'm excited to learn some new stuff in the upcoming classes..  I'm so glad that she asked me to attend these with her so that we can both become better picture takers... LOL  (Thanks Kathy)

After the class we took a drive up towards the mountains to release some balloons in honor of Kathy's Mother... Kathy bought a balloon for every sibling and I had the honor of releasing these balloons, one at a time.  Kathy got some beautiful shots of the balloons being released, floating and disappearing before our eyes.

It was a beautiful day in early February, as you can tell by the view at the bottom of LaCaille...

Birthday lunch for Poppa Pinstripes & Paul...

Today, Friday the 3rd of February Paul and I met up with Jesse Valdez and Brianne Wassmer for lunch at SugarHouse Barbecue.... It was delicious!!   It seemed to be the best time for us to celebrate both Jesse and Paul's birthday since they're only a day apart.... and maybe a few years!!   Happy Birthday early to the boys!

Peeking over the mountain...

This is the view that I get to see from work everyday!!  As the sun was coming over the mountain, the cold crisp air and the dark tree made for a perfect shot.  How could this not put a smile on your face...
