Intimidated......

No, not at all.  My camera may not be as powerful, but it still kicks out some sweet pictures.  We decided to take the photo challenge up a notch and have the camera stare-down!!

Text or call........

This little black/grey flip phone can sometimes be my best friend or worst enemy.  BUT, today I received a text that put a HUGE smile on  my face.  Modern technology... where would we be without it!!!

Anyone up for a wax?

So this is Paul in a few steps of preparing to have the little hairs up his nose..... ripped out... YIKES!!!  Yes, Erica is applying a wax up his nose to remove the hair in Paul's nose, claiming this will help him breathe better.. (what in the heck is he thinking??)   1st - apply, 2nd let the wax hardened up and 3rd... let Erica rip this stick and wax out of your nose as she pinches it...   And he calls me a DIVA!!!!  I think I'll keep my hairs...

Focus....

Today we had an unexpected visit to the eye Dr. due to a blood vessel break in Paul's left eye.  The Dr. didn't seem to worried about it and just suggested to Paul that we jot down today's date and keep track on his next vessel break.  Yes, this happens to him at least once a year. The last time this happened Dr. Jory told Paul that he would like to see him the day of the vessel break to do an evaluation on the cause, and to see if there was something more serious going on with him.... Dr. said, everything looked fine but to rotate the cold and hot compress on his eye...AND the Dr. suggested that I quit giving him my left hook shot...  I love our eye Dr. Jory ~ he is simply the best!!

If Only I knew....

What an amazing book that can be read over and over and over again.  In the past four (4) months I've lost 4 friends.... and all of them so young.... As many of you may or may not know ~ I hate to read... Yep, it's true!!  BUT in early October my dear friend Christy Christensen gave me a little gift to help me get through the struggles of the ups and down, and I love this book.  The front covers reads as follows:

If Only I knew
Gentle Reminders
to help you treasure
the People in Your Life

Here are a coup of my favorite quotes:

If only I knew I could never share another day with you... I would make the most of every second....

If only I knew I was about to lose your smile, I would thank you for all the joy you've brought to my life...

Lighting the way.....

I've never really paid attention to light post, but this one lights our corner every night.  When I look at this light, I picture myself in Europe.... This is my view almost every morning as I head out to work.. I love the beauty of clouds....

Dex knows....

I guess I really don't pay attention much... about payphones... I can't believe they still have payphones. Most everyone I know owns a cell phone...  We were at the store and this guy was talking on the phone ~ I came to a dead stop to reach for my camera, but he was gone by the time I got it on and focused.... When I was a little girl before cell phones, the cost to use the phone was 10 cents, and now it starts anywhere between 25-50 cents in most areas and in others ~ 10 minutes for $1.00.  Classic!!

Dancing dragon...

Happy Chinese New Year!! We enjoyed a nice dinner and dragon dance to celebrate the year of the dragon in the Chinese culture. Check out the meaning of the Chinese dragon...

The meaning of the symbol of Chinese dragon, belongs to history, tradition and superstition of the Chinese people, so we're talking about it

Chinese Dragon MeaningChinese dragon as a symbol is well known all over the world. So let's see its meaning.
History says "If you want to give the greatest compliment to the Chinese Emperor, call him the Dragon Face. Throughout Asia, the dragon is a symbol of mythical rulers of the time, rain, water, happiness, health. Chinese Dragon is a symbol of the wisdom, intelligence, enlightenment, energy, leadership, good fortune, optimism and success. Also, Chinese dragon is considered as guardian East. The dragon is the best symbol in Chinese Feng Shui. Chinese dragon can fly using magic, and therefore has no wings.
The dragon is usually used as a national emblem of China. Despite this, the dragon still commands great respect in Chinese culture.
A large number of Chinese proverbs and phrases also include references to the dragon, for instance: "Hoping that the child will become a dragon" (to have as much success, money and be as powerful as the dragon).

Winter sunset....

As I was driving home this evening from work I caught a glimpse of the sun beginning to set and was intrigued by it.  I knew that I wanted to capture this moment so I pulled into Macey's parking lot so that I could capture the "sun" before it lowered any more into the evening.  As I pulled into the empty parking lot I had my car at the perfect angle, and this was the shot that I captured.... Perfect!!  I love the semi blue sky with the dark branches.  Life truly is amazing with the beauty that surrounds us...

The keeper of the key....

Part of my job at work is to pick up the mail that is delivered to three (3) different departments within IHG. These rows of silver and black are part of my everyday routine and have been for the past seven (7) years.

Along the way I have had some pretty crazy experience, met some crazy people and some that have annoyed the dirt from under my fingernails. (kidding, I keep my nails clean and short).... LOL

Let me start with crazy experiences... Recently I signed for a package back on December 7, 2011 that was apparently given to me in error.  Being that I get international packages all the time, nothing seemed to be different about this particular one.  ANYWAY... One day I walked into the Post Office and went directly to my PO Box before going to the window to pick up my bulk mail... As I approached the window I heard what seemed to be 3 or 4 echos of Ambassador, Ambassador, etc).  I thought okay, this is odd.  About 3 or 4 minutes later I was approached by a gentleman that was dressed in business attire (management) who asked me if I was Lynda and if I pick up for Ambassador.  Standing there with a blank look I'm sure, I said yes... that would be me - is there something wrong.  This was when I found out about the package.  He proceeded to tell me that the Internal Affairs had been contacted about a missing package and when they did their research they found out that I had signed for this package.  Great... grrrrr... Honestly in 7 years this was the FIRST time that I didn't DOUBLE CHECK before signing or look at who it was addressed too... Anyway, long story short -- a girl that sits across from me got me all scared and told me that I could be prosecuted and thrown into jail... weak moment, I believed her.  After a full day of going through every file, every drawer, looking under machines -- that package was no-where to be found.  Now mind you - I get other peoples mail all the time and I ALWAYS return it by the next day IF I didn't pick up on it before I left.  Internal Affairs called me, I advised them of what I had done on my end to find the mystery package and after 2 or 3 phone calls the Post Office took the responsibility off me and owned up to their error of giving it to me in the first place... YAY!!!

Crazy people: This guy walked up to me while I was standing in line and asked me for the time.  I told him, I'm sorry sir I can't tell you the time as I have nothing with me that would give me the time.  The guy got mad and back-handed me on my shoulder.  I stood there completely in shock -- what the hell just happened.  Some guy saw everything and walked up to the guy and told him -- if you touch her again you're going to have to answer to me.... The guy didn't say anything and as he went to turn around and walk out he raised him hand again and RAN OUT of the post office... The "hero" escorted me to my car....what a FREAK!!!

Annoyed me: They have a bell that you ring to let them know that someone is at the window.  I walked in and noticed that there was some girl leaning on the far left side of the boxes and a guy standing about 1/2 down the aisle on the right side.  As I walked by them nothing was being said until I rang the bell.  When no-one looked I rang it again.  The girl leaning on the left side made the following comment "Hey, can't you see that there is no-one there to help you?" and then said "there is only ONE person back there and you have two people in front of you so stand back and wait your turn"... I glanced over at her with the look of , okay missy.  Proceeded to pick up my purse and get the heck out of her way.  A few minutes passed and the clerk behind the window comes up and says - "here you go".... Do you think I was going to go forward with Hitleretta standing there...hmm, no.  Hitleretta proceeds to the window and looks down and says "This doesn't belong to me"... the clerk said, "you're right, it belongs to Lynda"..... and so I proceed to walk up to the counter to get my mail and this Hitleretta FREAKS out and puts her hand on my mail and flings it back behind the door. The clerk standing on the other side had to honestly pick it up from the floor.  Hitleretta tells the clerk -- "You need to give the mail in the order to which we come in here".... the clerk said "she doesn't have as much mail as you do and so I thought that I would just give it to her so that she could be on her way".... wrong thing to say.... HOLY COW, really??? I waited my turn and wouldn't you know it... Happy had some signers that she had to check off and in doing so took up the entire space.  I had six (6) to sign and I'll be go to if she didn't freak out and tell me to find my own area to sign my papers in... By this time I had  - had it...My mouth decided to not stay shut anymore... "I asked her, did you by chance wake up on the floor?" She was not amused... She made some comment "oh aren't you funny?"  And I said, you know what -- my intention wasn't to be funny.. I'm serious - I don't know who pee'd in your cereal but you have some serious anger issues... A few other words were exchanged and I just gathered up my stuff and left... Costopo

And they say you have to worry about the people that work for the post office going postal...

Did someone say Paparazzi??

So I've never really been one for big, bright and bold type of  jewelry until I learned of  Paparazzi jewelry...

Back a couple of years ago my friend Tammie had invited me to a few of  her parties, but for whatever reason it was never good timing because I use to work on Saturdays and the week nights are just to hard to plan anything because I'm USUALLY in bed early.  Anyway, she was participating in a boutique one Saturday that wasn't too far from work so I thought, I'll take my lunch and run up there and check it out...

When I walked in I was like... wow, this may have been a mistake..... There were so many different vendors selling homemade things, jewelry, afghans, clothes, scrapbook stuff, etc...  I was in heaven!!  As I wondered around the different vendors I didn't realize that it was a "cash only" venue and by the time I got to Tammie's table :-(   I had no more cash... Tammie did say that she would hold some items for me, but  I vowed that I would go to another boutique or to one of  Tammie's parties... it never happened...

SO fast forward...  I learned that one of my co-workers (Wendy) was working under Tammie and was now selling the Paparazzi jewelry!!!  Really, it's baaaacccckkkk!!!  Being that I work with Wendy, it was just easier for me to see the product when/if she brought it to work ~ bonus.  In November 2011 I had Wendy and her assistant Rain come set up a party at my house.  It wasn't a full house, but we had fun!! A few of my family/friends that did attend had Paul be the keeper of the baskets (where they would put their jewelry that they wanted to purchase) as a few claws almost came out over different pieces.  Seriously, the jewelry is cute!!   Today as I got ready for work I pondered on what one to wear, and realized ~ these are fun rings and everyone should have a few to wear from time to time...

SO......... if you're interested in attending or hosting a party let me know and I can hook you up!!!

PS> Not only does she sell rings, she has bracelets, necklace/earring sets and headbands ~ cute cute cute...

Callie

This evening Andrea & Steve hosted a dinner party at their house with a few good friends!!  We not only had good food, fun friends but tears from laughing at Scott tell his stories.  What a fun guy!  Actually the entire bunch tonight brought something different to the table, at which made if fun all the way around.

This is Callie and she is a 3 year old Alaskan Malamute and she is soooo well mannered and is very loveable!!
Not only that, she's a flirt... YEP, you read this right ~ she LOVES the men that were around tonight and just kept flirting with them.  It was sweet!!!  If she was a boy ~ gentle giant would be so fitting, so being that she's a girl pup ~ she's a flirtatious princess on the prowl... and seems to be very cuddly!!

Anyone for some apple butter or pepper jelly?

Wow, who would have thought that our fundraiser would take off like it has.... Kathy and I spent this weekend trying to get ahead of our orders for the apple butter and pepper jelly and I think we may be a few bottles extra!!! YAY!!

All of the proceeds that are made from selling these items are going into our donations for (JDRF) Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk in August 2012.  I started a walking team in 2010 and called ourselves Triple L's, but in 2011 we changed it to LynDiva's Posse, and it's a perfect match.

We're selling our 8 oz. apple butter and pepper jelly for $5.00 each and if you would like to order some you can contact me directly or email us at lyndivasposse@yahoo.com.  Aside from selling the butter/jelly we are also selling Gaylin's homemade dishrags and romance novels.   If interested, please get ahold of me for any of these items!

Adopted daughter and dinner....

What a day!!!  Honestly it was "normal" when we got up, but then the train was going full speed and off the tracks!!  I hate days like that... I even had to post my photo for the day late... LOL

Anyway, we had decided that we were going to try and put the day/evening back on track and decided to go to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and take advantage of a gift card that we got at Christmas.  As we drove there I kind of questioned if our adopted daughter Tahnie (pictured above) would by chance be working, and if she was - great, but I was disappointed that I didn't grab my camera... Now before I go any further some of you are probably thinking or saying --- WTH is Lynda talking about... adopted daughter????  Paul and I have adopted Tahnie as our daughter, just not with a piece of paper.  LOL

Tahnie is an amazing person!  Our first experience with her as our waitress was back a few months ago, and her personality has kept us going back to the same location!!  Tahnie is not only beautiful ~ she is awesome, amazing, friendly and on top of that does her job - TOP NOTCH!!!

As luck would have it tonight, she was working!!  Not only was she working, but we were able to get a booth in her section so that we could chit-chat during the in-between!!!  During our in-between I told her that I was doing this photo challenge and asked if I could use a picture of her as my picture of the day, and she agreed but wanted us in the picture... (I think she just wants to show us off as the freaks that come into work and call me their adopted daughter - haha)... SO technically I didn't take the above picture but wanted to use this as my blog for today, so here it is!!

BTW... notice that I had to cover-up my hair with a beret... my blow dryer went out on me Sunday morning as I was getting ready for work ~ my hair was OUT OF CONTROL... LOL

Now it's time to say good night, and sweet dreams!!

Peaceful Pebbles...

I couldn't resist this picture when I saw her all snuggled up in the corner of our couch in the office...

Paul asked me if she was in the office with me and my reply was no.... As I got up to walk out of the room I noticed this ball of white beside the pillow, and there she was... wiped out!!!

She had a fun filled weekend with family/friends paying attention to her and has been one tired puppy today..

Sweet dreams!!

A little bit of chowder with a lots of Oyster crackers....

Friday the 13th was not a bad day, at all.  Tonight was not only our "craft night", it was the night of good food, good family/friends and more memories being created.

Once a month a few of us get together and have a potluck dinner, chit-chat and end up doing some type of a craft.  Tonight we had three (3) different kinds of soup to choose from, cheesy bread sticks and/or rolls and lots of laughs.  Rachel & Esther made the broccoli and cheese soup (YUM), Kathy made the chicken noodle (YUM), and Paul and I supplied some good ol' Piccadilly Clam Chowder (YUM YUM)!!!  My cousin Natalie still remembers the recipe and was generous enough to make a pot of it for tonight's potluck. (she loves me)... All of the soups were delicious, and yes... I had to have alittle bit of all three (3). AND YES, oyster crackers were a MUST for the clam chowder...

This dinner craft night is something that we all look forward too, and for so many reasons.  It's a perfect blend of the right people and absolutely ZERO drama!!! YAY!!!

As you can tell this post was actually posted on the 14th, and it was because we had company until midnight.  Am I complaining.. NO!!! :-)  And then I had to pick out the right picture for the post.

Happy Birthday Mom, my Angel...

Today is a very special blog for me, as today is my beautiful Mother's birthday. Today she would have turned 75 years young.  (If she was still here on earth and I posted her age, she would have kicked me in the behind....)

My tribute...

My mother was an amazing Mother on so many levels.  Being a single parent and raising two children wasn't always the easiest thing for her, especially having a daughter (me..lol) that was OUT OF CONTROL!!!  While it was just me, I'm sure that I was her precious little girl, but when my brother Reid came along... that was it... To think that I was going to have to share my Mom.... unheard of!  My Mom would tell me stories of how I would do everything in my power to pick on my brother, and it was anywhere from trying to smother him with a pillow to putting him in the dryer.... Yes, you read that correct - the dryer!!  Poor Reid... (sorry Reid, I'm sure glad that you and I have a close relationship as siblings cause I'd be lost without you)

Honestly, looking back I really did give my Mom a run for her money!! )(sorry Mom)  I'm sure there were days when she wanted to turn me in for a refund, but I'm glad that wasn't an option.  Now remember,  I was young...

As I got older my Mom and I had a remarkable friendship that grew to be very strong and solid.  My Mother was not only a teacher in profession, but in life. My Mother taught my brother and I to work hard and never be selfish, help those around us in need. "Pay it forward".  This is a lesson that still to this day my brother and I practice... We're both hard workers, reliable to our jobs and we have hearts the size of Texas.
Helping people around us comes natural.

Through the years as I watched my Mother struggle with things in her life, she always seem to make it seem "not so bad" - and I'd ask myself, why?  I would soon understand, my Mom always tried to protect me from any of her pain.  I think she would forget that we were close and that I would not only see the pain, sometimes I would feel it...

The last 3 months of her life were very hard for me.... As I would sit with her at the Rehab/Home everyday, we'd talk, play yahtzee, go for walks (well I'd push her in a wheelchair), and then talk again...  During this time we really had alot of quality time together, at which I'm so THANKFUL that I had the chance to be by her side as often as I could. One of our talks was very hard/special for me, and that is when I had the chance to tell my Mom how THANKFUL I was for her being my Mom... how much I loved and respected her for all that she gave to my brother and I, her unconditional love during our teenage years and for never giving up on us!!!  For this she is and will always be my amazing Mother..   I love you Mom, and I know that you're watching over all of us everyday.....

So in honor of my beautiful and amazing Mom, I send her birthday greetings to "heaven"....  RIP Mom!!

One last thing... My friend Jesse Valdez went to this Chinese restaurant to pick up lunch. He asked me if  I wanted anything and told him ... no...  Well I then piped up and said something about a egg roll and Jesse told me that he would give me one of his.  He grabbed me a fortune cookie and this is what it said...

This fortune couldn't have come at a better time, or better timing.  Spot on...When I read this the tears just started to fall... Love you Mom!!!

Popcorn popping right before my eyes...

If you know me, than you probably know that one of my very most favorite things in the world is popcorn... YUM!!! Could you imagine having your own "popcorn machine" available to you at any given time?  Well, one of my best friends, Gaylin... she brought this fabulous machine over to my house to take up occupancy here, in my home!!!! YAY!! She bought it thinking that they would use it and used it twice, she then gave it to her niece to take home and it didn't get used there as well, so it ended up "homeless'.  HELLO, this is a perfect spot for it and trust me.... it will get used!!  Thank you Gaylin, you're the best.

Love the smile...

This is my beautiful great niece, Inez.... She is my brother Reids' oldest grand-daughter and if without a doubt, a Hammond..... Inez is the 3rd child of my niece Gaby and is a spittin' twin of what Gaby looked like as a child.  Inez's personality is non-stop and as you can see from this picture.... a very fun loving little girl.  I certainly love Inez and want nothing but the best of her in all that she does. This picture is priceless...............

Oh Christmas Tree....

I couldn't resist when I came across these cute "gingerbread trees" at Michael's on clearance.  Yes, I'm fully aware that Christmas is now behind us, but this will be our project at the 2012 annual Couples Dinner Christmas night.  It's a tradition that we've done for a few years and it has been a blast!  The five couples (yes there is an extra tree...) all participate in doing a pot-luck dinner, dessert and then we clear off the tables and pull out the frosting, decorations, candy, sprinkles, cookies or mini cakes and decorate the night away. This is a tradition that I hope will last for years to come.

Green and delicious...

About a week ago I decided that I needed to get rid of my mother's books that I've been storing for the past 8 years.  They're not directly in the way, but I've decided that since I'm never going to read them --- that I would try and sell them and whatever money was made would be turned into to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) in August when my walking team "LynDiva's Posse" does the walk. Our goal is to raise it every year in donations.

In sharing this idea with Kathy, she came up with the idea to maybe sell her pepper jelly and apple butter with the same cause in mind.  So both of us mentioned this to a few people and discovered that this would really work and would benefit not only the people that would get something in return, but a great cause.

We spent Saturday morning making our first batch!!  I posted that we were selling them on facebook and at 3:44 pm we had our first texted order!!  (Thanks Trish)   Wow, what great people I know to want to help us in achieving our goal.

If you're interested in helping as well, please feel free to email lyndivasposse@yahoo.com to place an order or if you should have any questions.  We are selling the pepper jelly and apple butter for $5.00 each and come in an 8 oz jar.  If you love the product and return the jars, you'll get a 50 cent discount on any refills.

This is for an excellent cause and again, all proceeds will be turned in to JDRF in August upon completion of the walk.

Collin Raye, an amazing entertainer....

Wow, what an amazing evening out, totally unexpected nor planned.  They say some of the funniest plans are those that are done at the last minute/spur of the moment.... SO TRUE!!  Thanks to a good friend Jen, she had a couple of tickets to the event and was not going to be able to attend and sent me a text at around 7:30 and asked if Paul and I would be interested in going to the concert that started at 8:00 -- (mind you, we had just warmed up our dinner, looked at the clock and picked up our plates and "shovelled" the food into our mouths and were out the door by 7:46.  The concert that we attended this evening was for LaVar Christense who is running for an office here in Salt Lake City. The concert was held at the Jordan High School auditorium and was as usual, fabulous!!

Collin Raye is a very patriotic individual, so I wanted to capture him with the flag....

This is what we attended!!

And honestly -- what a way to end not only the concert, but my evening.  We had the chance to actually meet with Collin Raye after the concert and what a sweetheart.  We told him how he have been following him since he started singing, have been to all concerts that he has put on in Utah and mentioned to him that we've sang Happy Birthday to him with several crowds when he shows up for any August events ~ he was genuinely "thankful" for being true fans.  Now for the exciting part ~ not only did we get to meet him, shake his hand, get his signature and a hug.... As we were leaving he looked at me and said "Are you sure you and I haven't met before?" -- I said, I'm sure that you've seen me before but we've never had the chance to talk face-to-face.  He said, well this will not be the last time Lynda.... leaned over hugged me and gave me a kiss, on the lips (okay, technically -- one half of my lips)... I think we were both kind of shocked, smiled and then he said... We'll talk again soon!!!  See you both at my next show!!  I'm so glad that we went, amazing!

We didn't get home in time for me to post this with Friday ~ January 6, 2012 date... AND I had to include the four pictures that I did... to complete the story.....

Really?  I couldn't resist...

Today both Paul and I had dentist appointments, at which we were in and out within an hour.  As we were walking out of the office as I was still floating from the laughing gas, I looked down and bursted out laughing.  Paul just stopped and looked at me and said...what the heck?  With my teeth clinched, gauze in place I started digging in my purse for a phone.  Paul was still looking at me with that puzzled look.  I asked him to step up to this "security device" so that I could have his dark jeans to point out this contraption.  Okay, maybe it's not that funny now, but walking out in my own little world and seeing this "thin" wire attached to this bench... it cracked me up. HELLO, one snip and the bench is gone....Obviously it's the simple things in life that make me smile......

Pebbles recently started to sleep with Paul and I and it has been.... interesting.  She is all over the bed, and occasionally will make her way down to the foot of the bed.  This morning when I woke up to start my morning there was this "hump" in the middle of the bed.  I went for my camera to snap a picture and when I came back she had moved up to the top of the covers and snuggled her way right onto the pillow.  Pebbles loves to be covered... check out how the blankets are covering her perfect.  After I turned off the light, put away the camera... she fell asleep.  I love Pebbles beyond words. She has truly given life a new meaning.

Trackers, trackers and more trackers... With the beginning of each month I have to create new trackers for my job. Being that the post office was closed today for the Holiday and it was slow, I got my grove on and set up  trackers for all areas of my job for the entire year.

I love working with excel and use trackers for EVERYTHING!! Business or for personal use, they are handy. I even use a tracker for bills, address, invites to parties, birthdays..... I'm a tracker-a-holic!!
